Glenorchy borders the northern edges of Hobart and, although overseen by the Glenorchy City Council, it forms part of the greater Hobart area. Features are the Aquatic Leisure Centre, the Royal Hobart Showgrounds, Tattersalls Racecourse, and the Derwent Entertainment Centre (DEC). Home styles vary from smaller weatherboard houses to medium and larger more modern homes.

Claremont is 15 minutes north of the Hobart CBD, its main attraction being the Cadbury Schweppes Chocolate Factory. Older homes together with newer residences offers a mix of property styles. Claremont also has a golf course, schools, shops and other facilities.

Brighton is a small rural township located 20 minutes north of Hobart. It features the Bonorong Wildlife Park and a small shopping centre. Some light industries are also situated in the area. Some older style homes in the township with surrounding farms and acreages.

Berriedale is located on the western shore of the Derwent, north of the Hobart CBD and nearest Glenorchy. Glenorchy is considered a separate 'city' overseen by the Glenorchy City Council and boasts a large shopping centre with a wide variety of shops, businesses, a cinema complex, a swimming pool and many other facilities.

Austins Ferry is located in Hobart's northern suburbs, about 20km from the Hobart GPO. The suburb is built along the River Derwent, has a good mix of residential styles and many properties have river views. This suburb has no main shopping centre or school.
